Happy Day

I hope today is a happy day for you:)  I know, cheesy but hey, it went with the stamp set name!

I saw this layout on Mary Fish's blog and fell in love with the simplicity of it!  I hope yarn lady will like this because she sings beautifully as well!  Yep, one of those multi talented gals:) The other one I made her is exactly the same except the saying is hello there.  I really am liking this set as it's an easy go to for just the sayings alone!

Epic Day This and That™

Welcome back to what I hope will be a calm and safe week.

I've whipped up another card for yarn lady :)  That may be my challenge, to find a new name for her for each card.  Don't hold your breath on that one folks!  I love the creative edge to it but let me tell you, it was super quick and simple to put together!  That saying you see, it's a sticker! That chevron design, it's a strip of paper! That gray and cream stripe?  Washi Tape! The speckles? Gorgeous Grunge stamp:)  Wrap a piece of linen thread around it and call it a day:)  The package of stickers is full of different sayings and shapes and sizes, win win!

From My Heart

The From My Heart Set has such a great variety of sayings and shapes in it!  I knew this was the right one to start with...let me explain.....I have a friend, from Church, that is patiently teaching me how to crochet! This is not an easy task, trust me!  I'm not one to just pick up on new terminology let alone hand coordination :)  Slowly but surely I am starting to catch on.  Thankfully she isn't judging me by the language I've used when I make a mistake, just saying :)  Instead of just making her a Thank You card, I figured I would make her several different types of cards for her to use as she wishes.  This is the first!

Sauce

There is no stamping today folks.  I wanted to share, with you, what I made instead.

HOMEMADE TOMATO SAUCE!!!

I just sliced in half, no peeling require, about a dozen fresh heirloom tomatoes as well as regular ones, 7 cloves of garlic, minced, half of a yellow onion, largely diced and placed in a 9 x 13 pan and drizzled olive oil over it. Salted and peppered it all as well as sprinkled some dried basil and italian seasoning.  I also placed the cut tomatoes, cut side down.  Roasted at 405* for about 2 hours. DELICIOUS!

I hope this inspires you to use some fresh veggies today in an unexpected way!  It's worth the risk!

In all things...

In all things, give thanks.  I attended a Memorial Service yesterday for my dear friend from church. What a blessing she was to sooooo many people!  The stories that were shared just made me smile:)

I pulled out an oldie today as I thought the message on it was appropriate. In case you can't read it, it says Gratitude can transform common days into Thanksgivings.   Hope you enjoy.

Boo!

Happy Monday!  At least I hope it is for you and yours:)  I always seem to wait too long before I begin decorating for Fall and Halloween but this year is going to be different!  This is a super simple way to dress up one of my favorite things, Mason Jars!  Just grab some DesignerSeriesPaper of your choice, heck, even your favorite wrapping paper...cut or tear to size, roll it up to fit inside jar and let it unwrap once inside!  Tie a knot or bow around it and call it decor!  Me? I decided to try my hand at making a Rosette. It was easy with the Rosette Bigz XL.  Punch out a circle and a bat, attach a straw or wooden skewer on the back and call it done!

On to todays card. Total layout copy job right from the pages of stampin'success.  Jenny Peterson rocked this layout and I simply changed the colors and saying:)  I think this is a great manly Birthday card.  I love how the letters look aged!

Dictionary

There is always something so comforting when you see the warm shades of Fall.  Leaves, clothing, card stock and even ink bring that sense of warmth.  I had no problem grabbing these colors today to create this card.  For some reason I thought the Thinking of You stamp was still current:( My bad!  However, I still love the look of it. Reminds me of an old sweater with a faded pair of jeans (the background stamp).

When a friend or family member comes to mind, take the time and jot them a note and send them a card:)  It's sure to put a warm smile on their face!

Really Good Greetings

Where oh where has that Fall weather gone? Oh where oh where can it be?  YOUZA it got toasty fast! Thank goodness for air conditioners and ceiling fans:)

I came across a card made by Bethany Drew and I immediately fell in love with it!  I switched out the Framelits and main theme but stuck with the colors.  This particular card is going to a dear friend of mine that now lives in Connecticut.  She just happened to be coming thru this way and spent an entire afternoon with me.  What a great time it was just browsing thru Antique Stores and then teaching me one of her famous Italian sauces.  Yep, she's Italian!  MaryAnne, you are missed!

Empty

Ever try to be creative and you simply come up empty? Today is that day for me:(  I found this hat at a certain craft store and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. That was last year!  I modpodged DSP to it and still love it to this day. Just wish I could find my creative spurt once again.  Funny thing about this crow.....it sits on an old time scale, on our kitchen table.  Ok, only during fall!  At supper last night, my hubby had to switch it around. Guess it freaks him out a bit when it's staring at him:)  Who knew that he would even notice hehehehe!  Will do my best tomorrow to play and come up with something to share! Wish me luck.

Modern Medley

This beautiful weather brings to mind The Great Pumpkin and Charlie Brown:)  Goodness, how many years has this show been on?  This pumpkin was super simple to create!  I took the small oval punch and punched, three times with the Tangerine Tango Cardstock, sponged the edges with the same color ink, glued together and cut a straight cut on the bottom!  The leaves were from the Bird Builder Punch as was the stem!  Just goes to show how a person can take punches and totally change what the original punch was for. Does that make sense?  I wasn't quite sure how I would ever use the DSP with the birds on it but guess what, I figured it out!  It speaks fall and halloween:)

Hope this card inspires you to start digging out your fall decor and think outside of the box!

Old Stash

I have been running around with appointments and other errands today and have totally taken a short cut on todays card.....I pulled it out of my stash for emergency cards :)

Is it fall where you are? It is here for the week and I, for one, am loving it!  We had a fire pit going last night with my sister and our neighbors over, and the weather was just perfect for it!  Of course, being Ohio, it won't last for long...it's to get back to summer hot by the weekend.  For now, I will be enjoying the cool breeze and jeans and long sleeves:)

Make it a fantastic day and see if fall is close to you as well:)

Salsa Recipe :)

Hi!  Hope the long Labor Day Weekend was kind to you and yours:)  Still hard to believe that Fall is right around the corner.  I don't know about the rest of you but we have an abundant supply of Roma Tomatoes still growing!  Thankfully, my hubby found a recipe online at allrecipes.com for some Roasted Salsa. YUMMO!  After whipping it up today, I decided that you all needed the recipe as well, to try if you want:)  I highly encourage you to!

Roasted Tomato Salsa (submitted by KATKRO)

12 roma (plum) tomatoes           1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 cloves garlic, unpeeled            1/4 teaspoon salt
1 small onion, quartered             3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 jalapeno chili pepper               1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
(seeded)
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil

Preheat the broiler

In a medium baking dish, place roma tomatoes, garlic and onion and jalapeno chile pepper. Drizzle with olive oil.

Checking often, broil 5 to 10 minutes, or until outsides of vegetables are charred.

Remove vegetables from heat. Remove and discard tomato cores, jalapeño stem and garlic skins.

In a food processor, coarsely chop the charred vegetables. Transfer to a medium bowl and mix in cumin, salt, lime juice and cilantro.

ENJOY!!!

Creative Elements

Ever go all out for a guest and bring out the fine china and silver?  China? Do people still buy china?  My hubby and I never registered for it, thank goodness!  I would have never used it LOL!  I did inherit my grandmas silverware and absolutely love it.  Come to think of it, I really should bring it out more often to use just for no reason whatsoever!  Thus the meaning behind todays card:)  Treat yourself like your own best company! Save some pennies on things at the grocery store that really don't taste any different then the name brand and treat yourself to good quality sheets!  They make all the difference when you slide into bed for a long winters nap:)  How bout splurging on good, thick bath towels.  I mean seriously, how often do we use our sheets and towels? ALL the time!  Go ahead, splurge and treat yourself to what you deserve.  I promise, you won't regret it!

Loving Thoughts

Loving thoughts is what comes to mind when I think of a dear friend from Church.  I found out that her Cancer has gotten the best of her and she is now in Hospice.  My husband drove me over to the beautiful Hospice Center that she is now resting at.  I have never been there before yesterday and oh my, what a beautiful facility it is!  Nothing but calm and serenity every where you look.  I was able to spend a little bit of time with my friend while holding her hands.  She has a disease, the name escapes me at this moment but it's the kind that makes you always shake and have no control over your hands.  Yesterday, her hands were as strong and steady as can be!  What a blessing to witness her calmness and serenity and knowing that morphine is also playing a roll, doing it's job and calming her pain.  I met her in Womens Circle at Church and we soon became friends and shared times together as Hostesses for some of the meetings.  She was also a big help to me after my Mom died.  This last visit brought back many thoughts today and I knew I had to make her one last card.  Maxine, you are loved!

Thoughts and Prayers

Friday......YES!

I was browsing Pinterest today and came across a card that screamed CASE! In case I haven't reminded you lately, it stands for copy and share everything!  It's one of the greatest forms of flattery I believe.  Credit for this card goes to Heidi Tekunoff. Love your style Heidi!  I will tuck this card away until the need arises to send it off to someone that needs a lift.  I am not sure if you can see the details on it so I will just go ahead and point them out:)  There are pierced holes in the upper left hand corner and straight lines below the saying.  On the very bottom of the card, on the blue, are score lines to give just a touch more texture.

Thank you for stopping by and have yourselves a most wonderful weekend!

Happy Day

This is not the sort of Title I would use for the reason of this card but I'm using it anyway!  I had my teeth cleaned the other day and for those of you that don't know me except thru this blog, I have a horrible fear of Dentists!  Always have, probably always will.  Thankfully, I found the best Dentist ever, who also happens to have the most dedicated, gentle and loving people who work for him and with him.  Kay, the hygienist, is one of them.  She is the only one that cleans my teeth and knows what calms me down. LAUGHING GAS and good tunes!  Only bummer part for this latest visit, the gas wasn't working properly, AKA NO LAUGHING GAS!  Kay, bless her little heart, was as gentle as could be and talked me thru everything. See?  Told you I was a chicken!  Figured this card had her name written all over it:)

Simple

I know this picture makes the stamped areas appear crooked.  I promise, they are all straight:)  I have never really played with the border stamps in this particular set but seems to me, they are pretty cool looking when you stamp the same one multiple times. By using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, they are all five placed exactly the same.  If I were to try it with just my 50+ eyes, it would be a mess!  Speaking of 50+, when on earth did I get this old? Crazy I say!

Lovely as a Tree

It's never a fun thing to hear that a friends Dad has died.  My own Dad died over thirty years ago and I still miss him.  It's very hard to not write, inside the card, how blessed they are that their Dad lived for so long and got to meet their husband and children.  I was never blessed with that gift.  I did, on the other hand, have many years with the BEST Father In Law:)  In all things, give thanks.

Chalk Talk

As you can tell, I'm still on a bit of a vintage trip in my card making:)  I have a very hard time using pastels which is why I steer clear of them at pretty much all costs!  I am loving this color combo as it reminds me of papers found in an old attic somewhere.  Ok, maybe not the Coastal Cabana but the Sahara Sand and the stamps used with it:)  No clue who will get this particular card as I was simply playing around with the stamps used and liked the end result.  Hope you do too!

From My Heart

I know, I know, I just used this same stamp yesterday:)  What can I say? I love the look of it and the ease of using it:)

Our new Minister and his wonderful wife had a cookout on Sunday at the Parsonage.  It was a great day for it and they had invited everyone from Church so that we could get to know them a little better and see their new home:)  Something about sitting under a huge tree, in someones backyard, while eating grilled hot dogs and chips, screams vintage to me:)  Yep, I'm a fan of things vintage!  Figured this card fit the bill to send as a Thank You for opening their home to all of us as well as feeding us!

Post Card

There is a lovely lady, in our Church, that is an Usher.  Am sure there are women like Erma in your own Church or life.  She is one of those peaceful women that always has a smile on her face and always greets you as if you family.  I saw, in our bulletin, that Erma was in need of prayers.  I have no idea what has happened as I haven't made any phone calls yet but I knew dear, sweet Erma needed something to perk her up via her mail box:)

I just recently purchased this Post Card stamp and I must say.....I LOVE it!!!  It makes for a terrific building piece when you have stamps that you want to use that just don't fill enough space.  Of course I had to bring out good old Gorgeous Grunge.  I can't imagine how I lived without it:)

Color Explosion

Hi all!  Welcome back and thanks for stopping back in:)  This weekend went by way too quickly:(  I must share something...my sister went on a vacation and left me her Vitamix to try out!  I want to keep! If you have never seen them in action, WOW!  I have become addicted to smoothies.  Get this one, even throw in Kale now for that extra bit of vitamins. I know right? Even tried my hand at salsa and potato soup!  Instant love that's for sure!

This card is full of colors and copied from Leena Girsa.   The Three long strips of color are created by pressing down, onto the ink pad, a strip of Painters Tape and then pressing said Tape directly onto the card stock! She used a stamped sentiment on hers, I couldn't decide so went without:)  Sometimes, the colors speak louder then words, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Gift Pouch

Odd Title yes?  No worries...  Truth be told...I was looking to make a creative envelope for my post today and I just wasn't loving what was happening to my idea.  Thankfully, another idea came to mind and I went with it:)  All I did was take some DSP and fold it just a little under half which left me the strip at the top for some contrast.  Ran it thru the BigShot with an Embossing Folder for texture, both at the top and at the bottom. LOVE how easy that is to do! Then the decorating fell into place:)  At least I think it did:)  Where the scissors are, is a perfect pouch for chapsticks, gift cards, cash, ya know, small things.  To stick more in, all you would need to do would be to create a wider pouch!  Easy Peasy!

With Grace

Every year, at Stampin'Up!s Convention, Shelli presents the Heart of Stampin'Up Award to the most deserving Demonstrator and this year was no different.  I am blessed to know the recipient this year and I knew I needed to make a special card with her on my heart while creating it.  Susy, you have always been an inspiration to all of us and now your inspiration has gone far beyond just Demonstrators and Customers.  Even if you don't feel it, you, indeed, are blessed.  Feel the love hon and let all of our prayers carry you!

Baby Jars

When our daughter, son in law and grandson were here last week, I asked for Carsons baby jars after they were emptied.  I had absolutely no idea what I "needed" them for but I knew I DID need them:)  With the neighbor girl moving into her first apartment, I figured she needed something to toss her loose change in or to simply have something different on her desk:)  Yep!  Baby jar to the rescue!  All I did was cut some DSP into the width and length I wanted, taped them onto the jar and added twine, belly band (just a smaller strip of DSP in a different pattern) around the center and a flower:)  Thrilled with the end result and when she came to pick it up, she immediately tossed in some change from her pocket:)  Life is good!

Supplies
Baby Jar
DSP...Modern Medley
Punches...7/8", 1 1/4" and 1 3/4" scallop circles
Natural Trim Ribbon (7/16")

Simple :)

Sometimes...I try something in the hopes that it will work.  I needed a simple background and just wasn't feeling the love from my background stamps that I have on hand. Today, I wanted super simple!  I grabbed my handy dandy Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp, ink and paper and made my own background on Whisper White card stock! Yep, happy with the end result and get this....I just guessed at where to place the stamp and it fit perfectly, three times in a row and centered.  WHEW!  The original card idea came from the Holiday Catalog, page 3, lower right hand corner:) Sure am glad there are artists out there that share their talents with the rest of us so that we can CASE (copy and share everything) with you!  Hope this card inspires you to grab some ink, paper, stamps or something crafty, and make something to share:)

Presentation

Sometimes a gift is all about how it's presented.  Even when someone has asked for something to be created, it's fun to come up with a unique way to hand it to them.  I have a great neighbor who is getting ready to move into her first apartment soon.  She had asked me to help her make a small banner.  Instead, I just surprised her and made it so she didn't have to worry about anything.  Of course I couldn't just hand it to her, I needed to come up with a fun way to present it:)  She loved it and well, making someone happy like that, by stamping, makes me happy:)  All I did was cut a piece of butcher type wrapping paper, fold up to create a pocket, glue the edges together and left the top open. I also ran the folder bottom thru the Big Shot in the embossing folder to create some texture.  Super simple and quick!

Stamp Sets...Label It and Chalk Talk
Chalk Talk Framelits
1 3/8" Circle Punch and Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack

Love of my life:)

I have a confession....I am madly in love with someone and it's not my husband!  Of course I still am in love with hubby but also this little fella:)  Meet Carson once again!  They came into town for a week.  Oh what a joy it has been to spend time with them and to hold and love on Carson every chance I got!  Must admit, once they left to drive back to Colorado, our home was waaaaaay too quiet and uncluttered!

No stamping for todays post, but rather love on a swing in our backyard:)

Thanks for dropping in and letting this Granny brag!

The usuals :)

Friday!!!!  I came across this card the other day and knew right away I NEEDED to copy it!  Dawn Griffith created it and there is absolutely nothing that I don't love about it!  Dawn used butterflies and I chose to use scallop circles.  Dawn used a marker to color the houndstooth in on white cardstock, I chose to just stamp it onto the Pistachio Pudding Cardstock.  I also chose a different saying.  Honestly, this card layout and color just makes me smile from ear to ear:)  I hope it does you as well and Dawn, your creativity never ceases to amaze me!

Memorable Moments

I started to browse the Catalog in hopes that an idea would jump out at me....it did:)  I used the Book Cover on Page 106 and switched it up to a card instead.  Gotta love it when you can cut DesignerSeriesPaper to cover the entire card for instant design!  In order to recreate the chevron pattern, ok, kind of recreate it, I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig and used the slanted line stamp from Gorgeous Grunge.  Once I stamped one side, I lined up the image, again, using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, right beside it!  To create the illusion of height in the center of it, I simply used my Stampin'Trimmer and ran the scoring blade on the backside of stamped image, in the center and kind of, sort of, folded it just to get the crease.  Geez, I'm lousy at actually writing a good description :( so sorry!  I hope, that after looking at the picture, you will be able to see what I did!

Label Love Indeed

I was thrilled when I first saw Label Love.  Two main reasons why?  The shape and the sayings!  Oh...and of course the fact that a Punch matches it too!  One of the gazillion reasons why I love Stampin'Up!  Everything has something that coordinates with it!  Makes creating cards, scrapbook pages and gifts just that much easier!  I wanted to use almost the exact layout as yesterdays card but with a different angle.  The Happy Birthday stamp looks Vintage with the way the rubber on the stamp is etched.  In order to get the larger Punch behind the saying fit the way it does...I simply cut the punched colored cardstock in half and taped it a little further up and further down from the saying punched. Hope that makes sense:)

Supplies
Stamp Sets...Label Love and Gorgeous Grunge
Cardstock...Very Vanilla and Crisp Cantaloupe
Ink...Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Baked Brown Sugar

Six-Sided Sampler

I really wasn't kidding when I confessed that Gorgeous Grunge was going to be used quite a bit by me!  I know it's a far cry from Fall but I wanted to used Fall colors for a masculine feel.  I think, if I were to make this card again, I would rough up the edge on the right side!

Envelopes

Welcome back from your weekend!  Hope it was everything you wanted it to be and more!

I figured I needed to have an envelope for my sister's card and wanted to make my own.  You know, give that personal touch to it!  I grabbed my favorite retired paper and my Simply Scored Scoring Tool and in no time at all, had my perfect sized envelope:)  In case you are short on envelopes, grab an old one and open it all the way open.  Trace onto a piece of card stock or even brown paper bag, score along the lines, fold over, glue and wham! You have your own, hand made envelope:) Now quick, reach over and pat yourself on the back!  That wasn't hard to make at all now was it? :)

Supplies
Stamp Set...Tape It and Remember This and That Rotary Stamp
Inks...Smoky Slate, Marina Mist, Summer Starfruit and Real Red
Twine

Simple but goes with the card perfectly:)
